Immunopathology in schizophrenia: results of the study at Mental Health Research Institute of Tomsk National Research Medical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The paper analyzes research of the state of the immunity system in schizophrenia, carried out at Mental Health Research Institute of Tomsk National Research Medical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences from 1981 to 2020. The main directions are briefly highlighted: transregional investigations of specific immunity to widespread viruses and the state of the immune system in schizophrenic patients; accumulation of data within the framework of the psychoneuroimmune hypothesis of schizophrenia; study of the contribution of immune mechanisms to adaptatiogenesis in schizophrenia; study of psychoneuroimmunomodulatory effects of the spectrum of atypical anti-psychotics; development of methods for predicting the effectiveness of therapy and methods of treating patients with schizophrenia with the inclusion of immunoactive agents.
