The imperial status of the Eurasian state in historical retrospect: landscape and climatic conditions of Northern Eurasia conducive to empire building

The author analyses knowledge of geographers and climate scientists on landscape and natural-climatic factors resulted in logistical structure and borders of the Eurasian macro-region. Within the comprehensive study the author compares knowledge about natural-climatic conditions of the northern Eurasia which facilitate the functioning strong links between its peoples and reproduce on its territory of the powerful empires. The study concludes that natural-climatic factors in northern Eurasia evaluate the need for regular formation of the great multinational empires. The methodological basis of the study is the world-system approach and the concept of «North-Eurasian World-System» (NEWS), within the framework of which all states in the CIS countries can be considered as forms and elements of a single community.
