Import substitution in the tourist industry of Russia: challenges and opportunities

The article examines the impact of sanctions on the development of Russia's tourism, analyzes the Western restrictions since 2014, their impact on the country's economy, considering the response of the state and the tourism industry to a tougher policy from Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan and other countries. It shows the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy of the Russian Federation and characterizes support measures for the tourism sector during the lockdown. The impact on the development of international and domestic tourism of sanctions imposed by countries non-amicable to Russia in 2022 in connection with a special military operation in the Donbass, as well as the exit from the market of the country's major players in the tourist industry is considered. The measures of state and regional support of domestic tourism in the Tyumen region are analyzed.
