Risk of potential radiation exposure within limits put in the new Radiation Safety Standards (NRB-99/2009) is discussed. A new approach to estimate safety index of potential exposure, based on ICRP recommendations (Publication 103), was designed. Estimates of the index made for the Kursk NPP are given.
