The presented article is one of the first in the Russian legal science, which substantiates the necessity of integrating the values and representations of local (indigenous) communities into the basic constitutional values. This process is defined by the author as "indigenization" of constitutional legal values. Using the example of the Republic of South Africa, the importance of traditional ethnic norms and processes that significantly affect the political, constitutional and legislative processes of states is demonstrated. Referring to the conducted research, the author shows that in the foreseeable future, the importance of indigenous peoples as a source of unique knowledge, values and culture will increase in contrast to globalization and the universalization of legal values in the modern period.
