The article examines the phenomenon of India’s “digital miracle”. The description of the main cultural and socio-economic factors that are significant challenges to the digitalization of the country is given. It has been established that an impressive breakthrough in the digital sphere has become possible thanks to the long-term efforts of the Indian Government in this area. Important programs and initiatives aimed at overcoming existing barriers have made it possible to turn India into an IT giant and make ICT accessible to different segments of society in the shortest possible term. As a result of the study, it was revealed that India is confidently moving towards achieving its technological leadership and, being the world's most populous country with more with over 1.43 billion people, is a huge and very attractive market for outsourcing, investment and sales.
