In vitro induction of multiple shoots formation of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) explants

The sunflower explants ability to form multiple shoots in vitro was studied. It was shown that the main shoot removal induced the formation of two or more shoots per explants (the frequency was 78 %. At the present moment it is the most effective method of sunflower explants regeneration. This method of induction of sunflower explants regeneration can be used in genetic transformation as well as in cell selection.
