Information culturology as a synthetic scientific discipline to answer big challenges

The conceptual foundations of a new complex scientific direction in cultural studies, which has been forming in Russia in recently ears and should become a scientific and methodological basis for an adequate response to the Big Challenges of the XXI century, are outlined. The structure of its subject area is considered and it is shown that the research results obtained in Russia make it possible to qualify this area as a new synthetic scientific discipline emerg in gat the junction of Informatics, Culturology, Anthropology, Psychology and Aesthetics. The development of Information Culturology will allow us to gain more holistic knowledge about cultural processes in the context of the formation of a Global Information Society and, on this basis, to form the worldview of the intellectual elite, which will be more adequate to the new reality. New opportunities will be created to understand the role of information culture in the system of National and Global security, as well as to develop the intellectual potential of the individual and society.
