The article is devoted to the influence of the informational and communicative factors of the self-organization of the Russian citizens. Appealing to the popular idea of the 2000s that Internet was a factor of the civil and political self-organization, the author tries to answer the question about the influence of the internet-communication on the Russian grassroots activism. Using a wide range of sociological data, the author concludes that the wide-spreading of the Internet and social media in Russia didn’t lead to the civic self-organization and to the growth of critical anti-authority attitudes. Despite the informational openness of the Russian Internet sphere television remains the main information source for citizens, while the Internet resources are primarily used for entertainment and relaxation.
