Stimulation of structural shifts as an element of a regional branch policy

The article deals with a problem of the implementation of a branch policy at a regional level. The authors of the article carry out the analysis of the region branch specificity from two points of view: structural dynamics and the level of social and economic development and the region's involvement into the economic activities of the country. The typology of the Russian regions developed by the authors in order to increase the efficiency of the branch policy and the structural shifts management is given in the article.
