The article considers information and communication technologies in a global form. The causes and functions of the introduction of ICT into the public administration system and their interaction with innovations in society are considered. The use of ICT in the work of public authorities is considered as the main opportunity to increase the effectiveness of public administration. Changes in the public sector are associated with the development and use of new information and communication technologies. The introduction of ICT in public administration is part of the concept of "electronic government", or "electronic state". "E-government" implements the principle of providing state and municipal services to citizens, both individuals and legal entities in the "single window" mode. Such a concept is realized by increasing the role of ICT and the laws of informatization of civil society. In other words, this is a modern image of public administration, which appeared as a result of increasing understanding and the full possibility of implementing information and communication technologies in the relationship between citizens and government.
