Innovative activity in the region: challenges, assessment, and reinforcement resources

This article analyzes the need to develop competition in a society; it has been prepared in connection with the study of the motivation for innovation in the Russian regions depending on the degree of public confidence in the government. The author considers the aspects of the innovation activity, the factors of the insufficient motivation to innovate. The paper suggests a number of formulas for calculating the quantitative changes of the innovation component in the gross regional product, evaluating innovative activity in the regional economy in general, in industrial and scientific spheres.
