Innovative economy: importance and role in the modern world

The article is devoted to the study of the importance of innovative development of the modern Russian economy. It is noted that all over the world innovation activity is considered as one of the main conditions for the modernization of the economy. To date, the possibilities of extensive and intensive development of traditional production technologies have been exhausted, as a result of which in many countries of the world such industries that use innovative technologies have begun to develop more and more actively. The article examines the features of the innovation economy, it is noted that the state is not limited to cooperation with business structures, but takes on the role of "commanding heights" and actively promotes the development of innovative processes in the country. An innovative economy is characterized by the formation of a gross product based on the high added value of technologies and technological improvement in the process of creating high-tech and science-intensive products. When implementing innovation systems in the countries of the world, various models are used, as in some countries the emphasis is on the development of university fundamental science and the production potential of companies, while in others they use exploratory research, R&D and production is carried out on the basis of corporations. For modern Russia, an urgent task, especially after the speech of the country's President V. Putin on February 8, 2008 at an expanded meeting of the State Council, was the implementation of the transition of the economy to an innovative path of development.
