The article provides a comparative analysis of innovative pedagogical approaches in the process of teaching students in Russian and Chinese higher economic education. As a result of the analysis of the specialized literature of Chinese and Russian researchers, common and different positions of scientists in the awareness of innovative pedagogical approaches were found. The common understanding of Chinese and Russian teachers of innovative pedagogical approaches is a focus on changing or developing approaches in pedagogical science and a focus on modernizing higher economic education. Distinctive features of innovative pedagogical approaches in Russia and China are the formation of their innovative approach in the system of economic education based on different pedagogical methods and means.
