The article is devoted to the key role of Russia's innovation belts and their representatives in the formation of a nation branding strategy based on developed industry-specific competencies of the military-industrial complex. The author shows the main stages of the implementation of the conceptual model of national branding with the participation of the subjects of the defense industry (companies, universities, academic institutions) in order to increase the symbolic capital of Russia in the international arena and the growth of patriotic sentiment in the country.
