The paper considers a regional aspect of socialist industrialization in the territory of the Western Urals. On the base of archival, narrative sources, the author shows foreign firms attracted to create a powerful chemical industry in the USSR and compares the conditions, quality of life of Soviet and foreign workers who served in the years of the first five-year plans at the birth of the young socialist city of Berezniki in the Perm Territory. The analysis of memoirs of specialists who came from abroad and Soviet citizens makes it possible to conclude that there were significant differences in the system of life values, views on the socio-political reality of that time, among representatives of two socio-political systems (capitalist and socialist). The author notes the strategic importance of international cooperation in the creation of new complex industries and the need for socio-cultural interaction between peoples of different civilizations, social strata for the development of domestic industries and the formation of a tolerant, respectful attitude towards representatives of different cultures.
