Institutionalization of legal registration of the independent accessories of the Karaites to merchants and well-being at the end of the 18th - at the first half of the 19th century

The article discusses the main aspects of changing the socio-economic status of Karaites after the annexation of Crimea to Russia at the end of the 18th - at the first half of the 19th century. The legislative acts and resolutions of the Russian government adopted in relation to the legal and economic situation of the Karaite population considered. Archival documents identified that reflect the stages of the institutionalization of legal registration of Karaites belonging to such social categories of the population as merchants and philistinism. It is concluded that in the legal field of the Russian Empire, Karaites not only received a new legal status, according to which they were granted various rights and privileges, but were also able to dynamically integrate into the social and fiscal systems of the Russian Empire.
