Labour migration is determined by many factors. Among the key factors or causes of migration, which directly determine its dynamics, quantitative and qualitative indicators, are: demographic situation, legal regulation of migration, general state of the economy (phase of economic cycle), development of the real estate market, branch- related specifics of the national economy, average wage, etc. But there are factors of another type - traditions, stereotypes of behaviour, cultural values and even prejudices, which exert indirect but sometimes a very significant influence on the process of labour migration. Within the frames of the methodology of sociological institutionalism these factors can be called institutional characteristics or factors of institutional environment, which determine the specifics of the behaviour of both migrants and native residents in the country.
