The role of a notary in certifying a marriage contract in Russia

The author examines the advantages of a marriage contract, the powers of the notary who certifies it, and the problems that arise in practice. Highlights the characteristic features of the specified agreement and the advantages of its conclusion. Concludes that it is necessary to apply the provisions of Article 182 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation to the procedure for signing such agreements, proposes to make appropriate amendments to the Family Code of the Russian Federation and stop the practice of concluding marriage agreements using powers of attorney from the parties to the agreement.
