The paper presents the data on insulin-like growth factors (IGFs), IGF-receptor and IGF-binding proteins which regulate the IGF-I and IGF-II bioavailability. The relationship of IGFs with cell proliferation, apoptosis and survival is discussed. IGF-I,-II, their receptor and IGF-binding proteins play an important role in the regulation of migration and motility of tumor cells. The expression of IGFs and IGF-binding proteins in the endometrium is regulated by estrogens and progesterone. Importance of IGFs, IGF-receptor and IGF-binding proteins in pathogenesis of endometrial cancer has been evaluated.
