Бесплатный доступ

Statement of the problem. In modern Russian, there is a clear tendency towards excessive use of English-language vocabulary in various public spheres. A significant part of such Anglicisms, which are widely used in speech practice, currently have no official codification in Russian. A number of applied English-language borrowings are unreasonable, since synonymous lexemes of native origin already exist in the Russian language. The purpose of the article is to analyze the functioning of Anglicisms in the Russian language and assess their potential entry into the Russian lexical system. Methodology (materials and methods). The research material includes Anglicisms, which are synonymous with Russian lexemes, but at the same time they are actively functioning in the modern Russian language. The research involves methods of linguistic, semantic and comparative analysis. Research results indicate that the processes of Anglicization can lead to deformation of the lexical system of the Russian language, displacing fundamental lexemes from it. These processes can contribute to the transformation of native speakers’ linguistic consciousness, which will undoubtedly affect their mental attitudes and may lead to certain social changes.
