Nowadays, the term ‘discourse’ is widely used in linguistics. Many linguists propose different definitions for the term, but these definitions often do not reflect the complex nature of discourse. А new integral approach to discourse studies proposed by T.N. Khomutova allow dealing with discourse as a complex object spread out over four sectors: cognitive, social, cultural and linguistic ones. We apply the integral approach to the study of encyclopedic discourse. Encyclopedic discourse is a poorly studied concept. Linguists have made almost no attempt to compile its typology. This article presents the integral typology of encyclopedic discourse.
