Intensification of forest production as a necessary condition for the sustainable development of the forest complex of the Far East

The article deals with the problems of low consumption of sawmilling products in the Far Eastern Federal District, low effective demand for it among the population, uneven placement and limited wood resources in an economically accessible zone. Their solution is possible through the creation and development of the wooden house-building industry, the use of financial and economic instruments to increase the effective demand of the population for the purchase of factory-made wooden houses, the cultivation of industrially significant highly productive forest plantations for the sustainable supply of timber processing enterprises with wood raw materials at minimal costs for its harvesting and transportation. To substantiate the intensification of the use and reproduction of forests based on artificial reforestation, afforestation and the creation of fast-growing forest plantations, the economic efficiency of plantation forest cultivation in the regions of the Far East has been determined. TThe calculation was carried out by the method of dynamic analysis according to the criteria of net present income and return on investment. An area potentially suitable for laying forest plantations and a possible additional volume of liquid wood harvesting have been established.
