The results of the study of the formation of spatial thinking of students of technical universities in the study of graphic disciplines are presented. Spatial thinking is seen as the ability to see an object from different perspectives and solve creative problems in the construction and transformation of design objects. It is shown that the basis for the formation of spatial thinking is the solution of problems based on heterogeneous graphic images (drawings). A model of the methodological system for the formation of spatial thinking of students in the classroom on descriptive geometry. Arguments are made in favor of the fact that the introduction of tasks implementing this methodological system into the educational process has a positive impact on the quality and strength of students' knowledge of graphic disciplines, on memory productivity and on increasing the level of spatial thinking, which ultimately creates the conditions for the formation of professional thinking an engineer.
