The introduction of information technology into retail has profoundly affected business methods. Technology of Internet devices, including sensors, positioning indoors, augmented reality, vision and interactive systems, can significantly advance the offline sale. Retailers have shown an interest in these technologies and are quick to adopt them in order to improve operational efficiency and customer experience in their retail spaces. The term "smart store" is used in this paper to refer to retail units equipped with these new technologies and modern marketing concepts. The aim of the paper is to summarize the situation and trends related to smart stores and their possible applications in a real business environment.
