Interpretation of town-planning problems in Krokodil satirical magazine in 1953-1964

The research considered the contradictions in modern historiography regarding the significance of Krokodil satirical magazine as a historical source in order to find a balanced approach to the evaluation of the source materials. While studying the materials published in the magazine in 1953-1964, the author revealed caricatures and articles addressing the problems of changing the appearance of the city. An attempt to group the plots demonstrated that in a number of plot groups, the transmedia space could be constructed due to both the absence of strict directives for interpreting the issues and the activity-based role of the readers. The frequency of satirical sketches, which influenced the formation of traditions in the field of satirical reflection of the phenomena of dynamically developing urban environment, was discovered.
