The interpretations of the concept "archetype" from culture of antiquity to culturological thoughts of the beginning of the XX-th century

In this article various interpretations of the concept "archetype" from culture of antiquity to culturological thoughts of the beginning of the XX-th century are considered. The founder of the theory of an archetype is K.G.Jung. The first attempts of categorization of "archetype" were undertaken in ancient philosophy (Plato, Filon Alexandria, Plotinus), in medieval patristics (Irinaeus of Lyons, Dionysius the Areopagite), scholasticism (Eriugena. Thomas Aquinas), in classical and nonclassical philosophy (I.Kant, A.Shopengauer).
