Intraoperative diagnostics of prostatic residual lobes in patients with large-sized benign prostatic hyperplasiadurung electrosurgery (TUR)

Intraoperative transrectal ultrasound of the 15 patients with large-sized benign prostatic hyperplasia (85 cm 3 and above) was performed during transurethral prostatic resection. This paper represents the detailed analysis of irritative symptoms refractory to conservative treatment after TUR. It describes a technique of intraoperative transrectal ultrasound and reviews the advantages of postoperativecourse in patients, whose final stage of the operation took place under ultrasound guidance. Intraoperative ultrasound quality control of TUR is recommended for patients with large-sized BPH.
