The modern education system is increasingly using information technology and computer telecommunications. The system of distance education is developing particularly dynamically, which is facilitated by a number of factors, and, first of all, the equipping of educational institutions with powerful computer equipment and the development of the Internet community.

Lecture-seminar form of training has long lost its effectiveness - practice has proved that almost 50% of teaching time is wasted. Studying foreign experience, we can distinguish the following important aspect: the teacher does not act as a distributor of information (as is customary in practice), but as a consultant, adviser, and sometimes even a colleague of the trainee. This gives some positive points: students actively participate in the learning process, they learn to think independently, put forward their own points of view, simulate real situations.

The development of information technology has provided a new, unique opportunity to conduct classes - the introduction of distance learning. First, it allows the learner to choose the time and place for training, secondly, it gives an opportunity to get education for people who are deprived of a traditional education for some reason, thirdly, to use new information technologies in teaching, in the fourth, to a certain extent reduces the cost of training. On the other hand, distance education enhances the opportunities for individualization of learning.

As a rule, e-textbooks are used in distance education. Advantages of these textbooks, in our opinion, are: first, their mobility, secondly, the availability of communication with the development of computer networks, and third, the adequacy of the level of development of modern scientific knowledge. On the other hand, the creation of electronic textbooks also contributes to the solution of such a problem as the constant updating of information material. They can also contain a large number of exercises and examples, illustrated in detail in the dynamics of various types of information. In addition, with the help of electronic textbooks, knowledge control is carried out - computer testing.

The practice of using electronic textbooks has shown that students qualitatively assimilate the material presented, as evidenced by the results of testing. Thus, the development of information technology gives a wide scope for the invention of new methods of methods in education and, thereby, to improve its quality.

Distance learning is a complex of educational services provided to wide sections of the population in the country and abroad with the help of a specialized information educational environment based on the means for the exchange of educational information at a distance (satellite television, radio, computer communications, etc.). Information-educational system distance learning is a system-organized set of means of data transmission, information resources, protocols of interaction, hardware-software and organizational-methodical support, oriented to meet the educational needs of users. Distance learning is one of the forms of continuous education that is called upon to realize human rights for education and information.

That is, by distance learning we will understand any kind of transfer of knowledge, where the learner and the learner are disparate in time and / or space. If we agree with this definition, then the "old good" correspondence course is the prototype of modern distance learning, in which, however, there is no element of individualization. How can we introduce elements of individualization into the components of distance learning?

Since modern computers allow to reproduce almost all known types of information transmission with great efficiency, and, what seems most important to us, only they can reactivate adaptive algorithms in teaching and provide the instructor with objective and operative feedback about the learning process of the educational material, it becomes quite obvious that the fundamental difference in distance learning in its current understanding from the traditional correspondence is not only in that "pen and paper" is replaced by a computer, and "pigeon mail" is the Internet. A multimedia computer is not only a new integrated media, it is the device that most fully and adequately reflects the "face to face" model. In addition, only computer-based information-reference systems based on hypermedia links can be implemented, which is also one of the most important components of the individualization of instruction.

What is the "Electronic textbook" and what are its differences from the usual textbook? Usually an electronic textbook is a set of training, controlling, modeling and other programs placed on magnetic carriers, which reflect the basic scientific content of the academic discipline. The electronic textbook often complements the usual, and is especially effective when it:

  • •    Provides almost instantaneous feedback;

  • •    helps quickly find the necessary information (including contextual search), which is difficult to find in the usual textbook;

  • •    Significantly saves time with multiple calls to hypertextual explanations;

  • •    along with a short text - shows, tells, simulates, etc. (it is here that the opportunities and advantages of multimedia technologies are manifested) allows quickly, but at a pace most suitable for a particular individual, to test knowledge of a particular section.

The lack of an electronic textbook can be attributed not quite good physiology of the display as a means of perceiving information (perception from the screen of textual information is much less convenient and effective than reading a book) and a higher cost compared with the book.

Means for creating electronic textbooks can be divided into groups, for example, using a complex criterion, including indicators such as purpose and performed functions, requirements for technical support, especially application. In accordance with this criterion, the following classification is possible:

  • •    traditional algorithmic languages;

  • •    general-purpose tools;

  • •    media;

  • •    hypertext and hypermedia tools;

Below are the features and an overview of each of the selected groups. As a technical base in the future we mean IBM compatible computers, as the most common in our country and available in the university.
