“Intourist” of the soviet union as an ideological factor of the Cold War

The article represents the historical analysis of propaganda activities of «Intourist» of the USSR in the conditions of the Cold War. The methodology and processing methods of promo- tion are considered in work with foreign tourists. Foreign tourism in the USSR is researched through a prism of the global ideological opposition of systems developed in the world. The article concludes on a rather high level of efficiency of advocacy of «Intourist». Article is based on archival sources of the State Archive of the Russian Federation. It is stated that an ideological war in the sphere of tourism by Soviet «Intourist» and the country a whole has not been lost. «Intourist» withstood propaganda competition with the relevant bodies of the enemy and by the individual components won the struggle for «hearts and minds». This experience of «Intourist» in the anti-Soviet propaganda counteractions can be useful in the present conditions of the unfolding Cold War 2.0.
