Investment cooperation among countries within the USMCA: current state and prospects

The article is devoted to analyzing the impact of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and its successor, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), on the dynamics of foreign direct investment among the member countries. The study covers the period from 1994 to 2023, with a particular focus on the changes following the replacement of NAFTA with USMCA in 2020. The paper examines key aspects of the agreements, including the removal of investment barriers, mechanisms for investor protection, and regulatory standards.
