This article examines the implementation of China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative through the lens of key investment projects in various regions. The author analyzes Belt and Road Initiative not only as an infrastructure program but also as a comprehensive geo-economic strategy aimed at transforming global value chains, stimulating China’s foreign trade, and addressing domestic challenges such as regional inequality and overcapacity. Using the flagship project, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, as an example, investments in transport (highways, the port of Gwadar, and railway modernization) and energy infrastructure are examined in detail, demonstrating China’s comprehensive approach and strategic goals. The analysis extends to Central Asia, where investments focus on transport logistics (Kazakhstan) and extractive industries (Tajikistan), and to Southeast Asia, where high-speed rail (Indonesia, Laos) and seaport projects are key. The conclusion notes that, despite significant potential for stimulating growth and integration, the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative is associated with risks, including the debt burden of recipient countries and geopolitical tensions. The initiative’s prospects are linked to adaptation and a shift in emphasis toward green and digital projects.
