Investment strategies of Russian oil companies in Africa: factors and principles of formation

The purpose of this work was to study the investment strategies of Russian oil companies in Africa by analyzing the main factors and principles of their formation. The aim of the study was achieved by solving a number of problems, namely: 1) identifying the reasons and prerequisites for the growth of investment attractiveness of the African continent for the representatives of the Russian oil business; 2) identifying the most significant groups of factors influencing the investment climate of African states; 3) a brief consideration of the history of penetration of leading Russian oil companies into the African region; 4) developing recommendations in the field of optimizing investment strategies of Russian oil companies in Africa. The article concludes which of the identified groups of factors have a positive and negative impact on the formation of investment strategies of Russian oil companies in Africa, as well as the most promising line of development of investment initiatives of the Russian Federation in the African region.
