Investing in children: production and productivity of human capital

The article deals with some aspects of human capital formation of children withinthe family. It analyses peculiarities of investment process in human capital at thehousehold level. It demonstrates specifics of decision-making about investments inchildren. The determinants of the willingness of parents to invest in human capitalof children are examined. Special attention is paid to consideration of market andnonmarket consequences of investments in human capital.
