As a result of understanding «tradition of management» and «tradition of cooperation» regarding nature it is substantiated that in the bounds of the first tradition tending to anthropocentrism the leading value of an engineer's activity is the benefit. In the bounds of the second tradition that tends to the harmonization of the relation-ship between a man and nature and to the harmonization of his inner world an engineer is the subject of ecological safety.
