Ecological security is a topical problem of Russia at the modern stage of its development. It is of importance when applying almost all modern technologies in the hydrosphere, atmosphere, near-Earth space, as well as in all branches of economy, at the local, regional and federal levels. Revealing and examining ecological risks is necessary to eliminate possible effects or to minimize unavoidable consequences of negative processes and disastrous events. We must thus know initial natural, anthropogenic, socioeconomic and historical causes of ecological risks threatening ecological security of the country. The concept of the Earth’s endogenous activity, resulting from gravitational effect of the Moon, the Sun and other planets of the solar system, has been developed over the last decade, along with the theory of effects of solar activity. Owing to this concept, mechanisms of initial causes of natural risks can be finally understood. The paper gives a brief description of the concept of the Earth’s endogenous activity, proves the necessity of taking it into account to study solar-terrestrial relations and demonstrates some natural risks.
