“Execution of the sentence” in the works of professor V.V. Nikolyuk and their influence on the development of the theory of criminal procedure and law enforcement

Introduction: the article analyzes scientific publications on the subject of "execution of a sentence" as the main institution of criminal procedure and provides information on the scientific path and scientific achievements of Professor V. V. Nikolyuk. Materials and methods: the methodological basis of the study was the general dialectical method of scientific knowledge, which is universal in nature, as well as methods of logical deduction, induction, cognitive methods and techniques of observation, comparison, analysis, generalizations and descriptions. Results of the study: from 1977 to the present, V.V. Nikolyuk has invariably raised complex, controversial questions on this topic and formulated specific proposals for improving the criminal procedural, criminal and penal legislation. It was demonstrated the fundamental nature of the study of this issue. The strengths of his scientific publications and the interdisciplinary nature in the coverage of relevant problems on the issue of the execution of the sentence are shown. Findings and conclusions: there are no doubt that the author made an invaluable contribution to the theory of criminal procedure, developed a colossal number of theoretical and applied provisions that are important both for legislative regulation and law enforcement practice. The works of the scientist deserve attention both among students in higher educational institutions and among scientists and law enforcement officers.
