Using associations by contiguity in time and space when evaluating references of the interrogated person to an alibi and other dates reported during interrogation

The article considers typical situations of references to alibis, the obligation and urgency of their verification at the very first interrogation of a suspect and a person suspected of committing the criminal event under investigation. A reference to alibis can be supported by an agreement with other persons, by the movement of certain actions in time and space, as well as by the movement in time and space of the reported event or its circumstances. With regard to typical situations of references to alibi, the article examines the most effective ways to verify them. Special attention is paid to the rules and peculiarities of checking the dates reported during interrogation. An example of an obvious violation of tactical rules relating to checking dates is the circumstances of the investigation of the first murder committed by Chikatilo.
