Utilization of birds of prey for the preservation of sunflower seeds within the outdoor territory of "Kazansky MEZ" JSC

Бесплатный доступ

The Kazan oil-extracting plant receives and processes more than 100 tons of sunflower seeds daily, thus, on the territory of plant there are spilled many seeds which attract thousands of flocks of rock-pigeon. Pigeons eat sunflower seeds, causing the company significant economic damage. To scare away pigeons from the territory of the plant specially trained birds of prey (eagle, falcons, hawks) were used as biological repellents. Thus, by such measures, the number of pigeons feeding on the Kazan oil- extracting plant has been reduced about 40 times in two years.
