Use of information technologies for monitoring and management of road traffic flows in the Krasnoyarsk region

Information technology is the important part of our life. There are a lot of kinds of innovative technologies in the transportation sector. The article examines several types of technologies applied in the transport industry. They are: GPS - the American invention, and GLONASS - domestic global navigation satellite system. The author considers introduction of the information technologies (GPS, GLONASS and video surveillance systems) in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The United Monitoring Centre, established in the Krasnoyarsk Krai, provides information on the movement and state of transport vehicles, and may allow developing of the appropriate algorithms for effective management of the road traffic flows. The article consists of two parts. The first one is devoted to several available means of monitoring and management, and in the second part their practical implementation in the Krasnoyarsk Territory is considered.
