Using integrated software products based on the transportation management system concept to assess transportation efficiency in a logistics company

Due to the rapid development of the services market in Russia, companies, including logistics companies, have to pay more and more attention to cost optimization. To do this, it is necessary to develop information support systems. Such changes make it possible to identify vulnerable points in a timely manner and solve the problem of cost distribution between cost and profit centers. For logistics and distribution companies, transportation costs are a key cost item. The problem of distribution of transport costs has been considered by many authors. Many of them come to the conclusion that the introduction of modern analytical systems can significantly change the level of the company's competitiveness. Competition in the logistics services market has risen from the level of competition in the quality and price of warehouse and transport logistics to the level of information logistics, where the winners are companies with a staff of highly qualified programmers, business analysts with experience in developing and implementing software products of various functionalities. The Transportation Management System (TMS) allows you to collect various information and, upon completion of the flight, form the cost of servicing each delivery point at direct costs, more adequately distribute the payroll fund of the driver and forwarder between the points of the route. The study discusses the possibilities provided by the integration of the Transportation Management System into the software and hardware complex for managing a transport company that provides services to distribution and trading companies. The advantages of both the TMS itself and the changes in accounting and analytical support that are possible during the implementation of the system are considered. The study was carried out on the example of a large logistics company providing food storage and transportation services in Krasnoyarsk.
