The article considers the need to improve the quality of crime investigation through the use of knowledge of specialists in the field of «body language» during interrogations of suspects and witnesses, as well as issues of assessing the veracity of evidence. Examples of body movements that indicate a possible lie, nonverbal signals emanating from the interrogated are given; The basic strategies of lies are analyzed. The issues of reliability and objectivity of the assessment of the nonverbal behavior of the interrogated persons, the assessment by the investigator of the extralinguistic component of the interrogated speech in order to identify signs of fraud are considered.
