The important problems of modern education are considered - training a future mathematics teacher. The possibilities of using the theory of contextual learning developed by A.A. Verbitsky are presented, when preparing a teacher from the first years of study at the university. Elements of this concept were implemented when teaching students in the direction of “Pedagogical Education (with two training profiles)” focus Mathematics and рhysics. The features of the use of contextual learning in the preparation of a future mathematics teacher are shown, which allow educational activities to be carried out in an integral spatio-temporal context “past - present - future”.
