Using case testing in the context of distance learning for teachers

The research problem and the rationale for its relevance. Modern trends in the development of Russian society define new challenges for the education system, one of which is the active introduction of distance learning. The advantages of distance learning include its accessibility and openness, more individual and flexible, compared to traditional, nature. The most important component of the distance learning system is a well-built system of control, verification and evaluation of the acquired educational information. Among the most frequently used control methods in distance learning, we can distinguish case testing, which is a method of evaluating knowledge and skills (competencies) using specialized tasks presented in the form of various types of cases. The goal of research is determining the specifics of using case testing as a control method in the process of distance learning for teachers. Methodology. The study used such methods as the study and analysis of psychological, pedagogical and methodological literature, generalization of pedagogical experience in the use of case testing in the process of distance learning for teachers. Results. The article presents the characteristics of case testing and describes the possibilities of its use as an effective method of control in the process of distance learning. Based on the analysis of scientific research, the author clarifies such concepts as “ case testing”, “ case test ” , “ case ” . Options for using cases, requirements for their selection, work algorithm, and evaluation criteria are identified and reasoned. An example of an extended case is given. It is concluded that case testing allows you to combine control and diagnostic, developmental and motivational functions; identify professional knowledge and skills, personal qualities, system of professional values.
