The article presents the possibility of using non-parametric method of estimation the adaptability of sunflower hybrids created at VNIIMK in recent years. The method is based on pairwise comparison of reactions of new hybrids with test hybrids, which adaptivity is well known. The advantage of this method is that it eliminates the need for series of complex and expensive experiments with the same set of genotypes, so it is possible to compare the new hybrid with only 1-5 known hybrids involved in the experiments. When using the pairwise comparison of adaptive reactions of studied hybrids with test hybrids it was determined that the sunflower hybrids of the last period of breeding Alliance Trio and Legion have certain peculiarities. The most probable estimates of their productivity under favorable and unfavorable conditions in reference to the hybrids present in the experiments were calculated. In the pairwise comparative analysis Alliance Trio according to productivity potential and degree of adaptability was inferior to widespread and popular in the production hybrids of foreign breeding NK Brio and Arena PR, as well as according to the average yield in the experiments by 18.5 % and 7.0, respectively. However, according to the ability of forming yield under favorable conditions, Alliance Trio has significantly surpassed all domestic hybrids that were present in the experiments. As for the hybrid Legion, its indicators were preferable than the indicators of other hybrids in experiment, and were only slightly less than the indicators of the the most productive and stress-resistant hybrid NK Brio.
