On-line recourses in developing foreign language teachers' ICT competence

The Federal Education Standards in higher school define a competency-based approach as the leading one in modern education. The teacher's task is to organize the educational process so that students can receive, evaluate and use in their practice a large amount of useful information, i.e. more hours are given to independent work of students. The article considers the ways to develop the foreign language teachers' ICT competence thanks to the active introduction of the informational and communication technologies. The author shares his own experience how to teach students independently acquire and develop skills while practicing some free on-line instrumental programs. Students become more autonomous in the creation of educational content and interaction with the other members of the learning process. The teacher acts as the moderator of all training activities, he provides ‘feedback'. The article presents a wide range of ICT technologies using on-line resources to help future teachers learn important computer programs for planning English lessons at various levels: creating ‘clouds of words', mind maps, interactive exercises and language tests, making up thematic crosswords and multimedia presentations, etc. The use of on-line resources in the process of solving the professionally-oriented teaching tasks ensures the formation of students' ICT competence, they improve their skills and creative self-development.
