Application of the superselective roentgen-endovascular chemoembolization in the treatment of patients with localised prostate cancer: our first experience

Aim of the study: to evaluate efficacy and safety of the superselective roentgen -endovascular chemoembolization (SREC) in patients with localized prostate cancer (PCa). Materials and methods. SREC was carried out in PCa patients with a mean age of 72.3±2.1 years in a period from 2011 to 2014. Mean total PSA level was 13.1±3.9 ng/ml (range 0.8-17 ng/ml). Mean prostate volume was 59±9.3 ml (41-93 ml). Lower urinary tracts symptoms were evident in 66.6% of patients. Follow up was in the range from 3 up to 24 months. Results. Effect after SREC was evident in 30 patients (83.3%), objectively - PSA response, decrease in prostate volume and increase in micturition quality.
