Web 2.0 as applied to the point-rating systems of student achievement evaluation

According to the new federal educational standards, higher education curriculum is to be job-task-oriented. One of the higher education priorities is providing quality professional training. Student knowledge and competence are evaluated in terms of quality and completeness through on-going monitoring, interim assessment, and state final certification. Students are required to ensure continuous academic development and meet the specified standards of knowledge. The faculty are to ensure continuous professional development, improving individual subject knowledge base, sharing knowledge in class through various methods and teaching techniques, adherence to knowledge-measurement requirements and procedures. For the purpose of knowledge quality evaluation higher education institutions are to provide comprehensive, continuous and fair competence - based assessment procedures. The article deals with a web 2.0 based point-rating knowledge-evaluation model designed to ensure the effectiveness, reliability and consistency ofthe evaluation results. The authors dwell on the point computation algorithm applied to the in-class and project activities ofthe students, identify the evaluation criteria, and lay out guidelines for creating an academic rating-based course schedule. 49 ОБРАЗОВАТЕЛЬНЫЕ ТЕХНОЛОГИИ The article also presents a scheme for the implementation ofthe information point-rating-support gantry- mounted tracking system, provides links to the Russian State University of Tourism and Service operating student gantries, and summarizes the results of new technologies implementation.
