The study of the peculiarities of the corrective effect in women’s correctional colonies shows that educational work with this contingent has its own specific features related to the conditions of serving the sentence. In addition, long-term observations of psychologists and staff of institutions show that the convict in isolation from society inevitably deforms as a person. Therefore, in the process of correction, the use of correctional programs is necessary, and their application is most effective when preparing convicted women for release. In the process of individual work with convicted women on the basis of studying their personality, methods of psychological and pedagogical influence are applied. Correction can be successful if it is organized as a purposeful process of correcting the psychology of the individual, taking into account psychological and pedagogical recommendations. Thus, the requirement to legal support of the process of correction of convicts is raised, which is expressed in the maximum psychological and pedagogical validity, the optimality of the content and the organization of the corrective influence. As a result, the correction of prisoners to deprivation of liberty is considered as a goal and process.
