Trial by war. The Krasnodar region in 1941-1945

The article deals with the events of the Great Patriotic War that took place on the territory of the Krasnodar Region. The course of military operations, features of mobilization of the population and economy are analyzed, the basic milestones and the facts connected with guerrilla movement are revealed. Special attention is paid to the actions of the Hitlerite occupation administration, which conducted a policy of mass terror, social disunity and economic exploitation on the territory of the region. The author concludes that in the battles on the territory of Kuban the outcome of the battle for the Caucasus was largely determined and a turning point took place in the struggle on the southern flank of the Soviet-German front. However, with all regional peculiarities, events in the region developed along the lines of the general course of the war, and their objective consideration is possible only in the context of the entire struggle of the Soviet Union against Nazi Germany and its satellites. Residents of the province made great efforts fighting at the front and working in the rear, while the hard trials fell to the share of those Kuban people who happened to live under the rule of the invaders.
